Keynote

A message from Hasina Juma, the 2018 Alberta GSA Conference keynote speaker:

Thank you for providing me with an incredible honor delivering the keynote address at the 2018 Alberta GSA Conference. I was unforgettable experience. My favourite part was chatting with the students and hearing their stories and how they are raising awareness at their school. We live in a society, where LGBTQ2+ people of colour are not always given spaces and platforms to share their story. One result is that LGBTQ2+ people of colour aren’t really represented in Alberta society. I commend you for being forward thinking and giving me a platform to share my journey of becoming myself as bisexual person of colour who has multiple identities. This choice made a profound impact on the audience especially for the students of colour who came to share their stories with me after the keynote. All of these students were ecstatic to finally see someone like them who understands their complex struggles and is thriving in life.

Huge thank you to all of the workshop presenters, resource fair organizations, and volunteers who made the conference happen!
