Language and Terms
It is important to note that the language used to express identities is personal. One term may have a different meaning to different people. The definitions provided by the sources below are meant to be a guide and may be subject to slight changes.
TIP: If you’re ever unsure of a term someone is using, it’s best to ask them what they mean by using a certain word.
The LGBTQ2SIAP+ Acronym: This acronym encompasses the terms: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual/Biromantic, Trans, Queer, Two-Spirit, Intersex, Asexual/Ace/Aromantic, Pansexual/Polysexual, and the “+” acknowledges that there are many other identities no accounted for by the previous letters.
